To celebrate the 50th anniversary of “Profondo Rosso,” Dario Argento’s masterpiece with the extraordinary and widely acclaimed soundtrack by Goblin, AMS Records and Cinevox are releasing a one-of-a-kind collector’s boxset, limited to 450 copies.
Packaged with an exclusive lenticular image revealing the film’s key scene, turning this edition into a true display item, “Profondo Rosso (50th Anniversary Boxset)” primarily contains “Profondo Rosso” on double LP: a special two-vinyl reissue with gatefold cover and previously unseen artwork, including the original soundtrack, plus a bonus disc featuring a collection of tracks with the music actually used in the film.
Additionally, a unique gem: “Canzoncine per bambini” by Calibro 35, an LP with six previously unreleased tracks by the masters of cinematic Jazz-Funk, blending their characteristic sound with nursery rhymes sung by a real children’s choir. The album is inspired by one of the most iconic scenes of “Profondo Rosso,” serving as a sort of narrative device around which the music playfully revolves, transforming that cinematic idea into an autonomous concept full of irony, tension, and imagination.
To properly celebrate the history of the soundtrack and Goblin, the boxset also includes Nel rosso più profondo, a book by Fabio Capuzzo—one of the leading experts on the subject—in LP format, in English, containing one of the most detailed and comprehensive analyses ever written about the film and its music. A celebratory edition of extraordinary cultural and collectible value, merging cinema, music, and memorabilia into a total experience. An unmissable tribute to one of the most important and celebrated films of Italian cinema, fifty years after its release.
