“VLAD” by prototipoLAB is an exploration of human complexity through the lens of Progressive music. This track reveals the vastness of feelings and situations that intertwine our lives, emphasising the notion that each of us carries a little bit of “VLAD” within us, and vice versa, emphasising the contradictions of the present time, where everyone is Vlad, no one is Vlad, ultimately, a hundred thousand Vlad.

The band tells us:
“The soundtrack guides us through an intense, sometimes violent emotional journey. Made in June 2023, it was filmed in a dark, nocturnal setting, adding a visual element that accentuates the depth of the experience. This setting emphasises the mystery and complexity of human emotions, creating an engaging and reflective atmosphere whose contrast reinforces the message of Vlad about the multifaceted nature of emotions in different contexts. Vlad is an ode to the complexity of the human soul, a sonic and emotional journey that reflects our ongoing search for meaning and connection. The combination of music and images reminds us that each of us is a kaleidoscope of emotions, always evolving, and ‘Vlad’ is the soundtrack to this never-ending journey.”
prototypeLAB
The band is composed of Andrea Fenili, vocals and guitar; Stuart Franzoni, drums, programming; Fabrizio Andreani, lead guitar; and Giulio Rimoli, bass. In the summer of 2010, Andrea and Stuart met to shape a new musical project, giving birth to prototipoLAB. They come from the Roman indie scene, bringing with them a baggage of different expressive styles, matured over the years, thanks to numerous previous experiences. Stuart has been a founding member of several Roman and Italian Metal bands, including Semeion, Corpsefucking Art, Lunarsea, Savior from Anger, Degenerhate, Perfidy Biblical and I Suffer Incorporated. Andrea started playing guitar back in 1995, being part of progressive/metal rock bands from the Lazio coast, such as Trashendenza (Metal) or Rebus (Prog). The sound of his guitar, intense and melodic, adequately underlines the vocal lines, creating deep suggestions and a truly unique style. They are joined by the guitar of Fabrizio, former member of O’Major, Maelstrom and son of the worst Italian Pop-Rock, and the bass of Giulio, the pulsating foundation: a talented bass player of Jazz-Metal extraction who completes prototipoLAB‘s sound with powerful grooves and a touch of versatility ranging from Rock to Prog-Pop.
