Psych Rock band Low Tide Levee published the new single “Rules of the Game,” available for stream through the Spotify player below:
“Rules of the Game” has a Rush meets Pink Floyd kind of sound with its unique structure, distorted guitar, gritty rhythm, and powerful vocals. The song was inspired by an ambiguous and frustrating relationship Amy had with a dance aerobics instructor. She was inconsistent with what she wanted and Amy couldn’t tell if she wanted to be friends or something more.
This inconsistency reminded her of all the other relationships she’s had and she realized that the “game” this woman was having her play was made up and not real.
“In a moment of stark realization, I understood that the social games we play, or think we have to play, the rules we think we have to play by, are all made up, and do not align with any great truth,” Amy shares. “This realization was very freeing, and cleared my mind so that I could feel at peace.“
Low Tide’s trippy and transformative music is a freewheeling adventure into Heavy, Blues-based riff Rock, stanky Funk, and sneaky adventures into sprawling Psychedelia. Lyrically, the songs can be mystical, playfully irreverent, and enlightening—sometimes in the same song. Low Tide Levee stands by for their music. They tend and guard the flame of humanity and human expression in music, in a time when music is becoming an endangered species, more and more attuned to the domain of computers and artificial intelligence.
