Between Classic Rock and Contemporary Music, between Psychedelic sounds and modal harmonies, Qagliostro return with their new video “A Crab’s Trip.” A fascinating operation for the Florentine quartet, standard-bearers of an enigmatic and dreamlike instrumental Psychedelia, who in collaboration with visual artist Tom Dilein have imagined something more than just a videoclip: “A Crab’s Trip” is in fact a shamanic short film that combines the quartet’s free and unconstrained sound with Dilein‘s visionary art.

Qagliostro state: “A Crab’s Trip was born, like all our songs, from melodic ideas and sound environments of the individual members, which within the group acquire form and identity. The track was recorded live in May 2023. The story with Tom DiLein began in a rehearsal room on the outskirts of Florence, where Daniele, the drummer, and Tom met. From the quick understanding, both personal and artistic, it came natural to think of him for a visual contribution to the track, which he realised in total creative freedom. This resulted in a fully shared product, where both the sound and visual side leave ample room for hypnotic and dreamy suggestions.”

Qagliostro was born in 2020 from the meeting between Davide Bonizzoni and Mario Campajola (both former Motmot) and Daniele Landi (Interno 17, producer for the independent Forears). In 2021 the band produced their first EP “Baden Baden,” recorded live at the SAM Studio in Lari (PI): it was received with interest by publications such as Rockit, which included the track “Baden Baden” in its monthly compilation. After Maurizio Landi joined the line-up on guitars, some new tracks and a cover of Ennio Morricone were recorded in May 2023 at the Parsifal Studio in Sesto Fiorentino, again live, by now a consolidated practice to fully express the character of their music. The band is currently engaged in the production of the tracks that will make up their next work and has resumed live activity, in parallel with collaborations with realities related to cinema and theatre.

Tom Dilein is a visual artist and musician, trainee facilitator of expanded states of consciousness, in training for the International Certification for Holotropic Breathing Facilitators (Grof® Breathwork). His personal growth and artistic and creative development is the result of his training in shamanic contexts and sacred plant ceremonial practice. Born in Florence, Tom Dilein grew up in close contact with nature, in a house immersed in a forest of chestnut trees in the Apuan Alps, and invites us with his art to immerse ourselves in the depths of our soul and in the essence of the nature that surrounds us. In addition to being flashbacks of visionary experiences, his works translate fragments of dreams and mirrors of states of mind reflected in botanical and natural subjects.
His visionary art is healing for himself and for those able to absorb its beneficial energy. In fact, with their poetics influenced by spiritual travails, immersions into the unconscious and psychonautical explorations, Tom‘s works can hypnotise as well as shake, make the body and senses vibrate and give the feeling of having travelled into the so-called Non-Ordinary Reality.
