There have been quite a few changes for the Norwegian jazz rock band Red Kite.

As the band explains:
What can we say? It’s been a weird time. A lot has happened, and none of it good!
First of all, we had to postpone things for a while, as Bernt André Moen was going through some health issues that eventually led him to stepping down permanently. So that sucked. But there were deaths along the way too. We lost friends, a cat, a swan – even Ozzy and Ace!
It all began after Even’s dad had been hospitalized and had several brushes with death. Around the same time, his friend’s cat, Bolla, disappeared. They would later only find it’s leg. That was the backdrop as he went off to write some new music for the album. The sounds that were coming out though, were somber and slow.
It’s a bleak backstory, but there have been some positives. Old friend and saxophonist Gisle Johansen, who was originally only going to guest on the album, is now in the band. And luckily for us, another friend, Ståle Storløkken, was able to help out on short notice with the keyboards. So terrible times were had by all, but also a few laughs.

Today’s lineup of Red Kite consists of Even Hermansen: guitars, Trond Frønes: bass, Torstein Lofthus: drums and Gisle Johansen: saxophone.
