[News] Respirano Records released the compilation “No Need To Fear”

An Art Rock compilation between New York and Italy. Respirano Records is proud to present “No Need To Fear,” the Manhattan-based label’s first anthology: seven New York and five Italian projects, a discographic agglomerate that marks an ideal bridge between some brand new Alternative/Art Rock proposals from the Big Apple and our own country.

I grew up admiring seemingly eclectic labels such as Mute Records and Warp, which, however, in reality perpetrated a very precise aesthetic direction. At the same time I loved the 4AD production of the 80s and 90s, which actually invented a style.” Respirano Records was founded in 2021 by Luigi Porto, later joined by Ray Lustig (composer and composition teacher at the Juilliard Evening Division), and inaugurated in 2022 with the album “Tell Uric,” praised by critics for its quality and originality. With “No Need To Fear,” the New York-based label broadens its horizons with a selection of New York artists and bands that Porto has discovered over the years together with Italian colleagues, including art rock, experimental songwriting, Psychedelia and Avant-Garde tips. Luigi Porto and Ray Lustig met at Juilliard and immediately began collaborating, both in orchestral productions and later founding the group Manicburg. Much of the duo’s music was born at the crowded Studio Nights that Lustig organised in upper Manhattan with Andy Warhol’s Factory in mind. These gatherings became Respirano Nights and “No Need To Fear” was born ideally connected to their creative and Experimental spirit.

No Need To Fear” is available on Bandcamp, a pre-order for a physical CD version will be active from July. Twelve tracks for twelve artistic experiences with an international flavour. Gintsugi – born Luna Paese – with its art-pop with an intimist and dilated atmosphere; Groove Temple, the solo project of Andrew Miller who is the youngest participant (nineteen years old), moves instead between Vaporwave, Dream-Pop and Electronic arrangements. Porto and Lustig are present with Manicburg, a new New York-based Art Rock/Psychedelia band with a strong theatrical component, which will debut in late 2023 with Respirano Records. Also from New York are singer-songwriter Chris Paraggio’s Marcyline, known for their incessant live activity and ghostly, contemporary songwriting. Completely different is the sound of Paolo Gaudio, drummer, sound designer and composer who will impress Boards Of Canada fans. Al The Coordinator, an Italian singer-songwriter and guitarist who has also flirted with Metal and Stoner over the years, moves instead between established Country-Folk atmospheres. Filipinos Chai and Joy Tamayo are the animators of the duo An_Outskirt, manipulators of Experimental Folk Rock.
Misospoek is the singer-songwriter solo project of Ray Lustig, who for this occasion sets aside Electro-Acoustic Orchestral Music in favour of the song-form indebted to his great Beatlesian love. Remo De Vico is dedicated to electronics, cut-up and the most pioneering manifestations of music, without betraying a certain vintage Italian spirit, Luigi Porto is present with a track from his “Tell Uric,” New York songwriter Dan Yurkofsky moves between Folk, Pop, Contemporary Classical and Electronic Music, Eyal Marcovici – a devotee of Italian and European library music of the 1970s – is the author of the only track produced expressly for this compilation under the supervision of Porto and Lustig and with the skilful mastering of Maximilian Heiner.
