Whether they have temporarily beamed themselves into the animal world with the title of their debut remains to be seen. What is clear, however, is that Tō Yō absorb various influences with “Stray Birds Form The Far East’, break them down and reassemble them.
The quartet appreciates the Psychedelic sounds of American bands from the 1960s and combines them with traditional Japanese sounds. This sometimes happens with guitars that come across as light and airy, as in “Li Ma Li” – and also works splendidly when things get dynamic and powerful, as in “Tears Of The Sun.”
