After the Cromlech series of albums, which had all been recorded in a jamming commune enviroment at Mwnci Studios in West Wales, the band decided to approach the next series of albums in a completely different way; they set out to record a series of demos, either by Pete bingham or Colinconsterdine, and work these tracks into finished sonic assaults through overdubbing by the band and guests and sculpting these sessions into finished tracks that formed a narrative about “Mankind.”
At the same time Pete was reading a lot about Ur and Sumeria and became quite fascinated by Sumerian history and religion, seeing parallels between the Exodus of Sumeria and the historical aspects of the Bible, going down a rabbit hole of how the whole notion of religious ideas came about; this led onto the whole aspect of when did Man became Man, exploring his myths and magic, ultimately to where we were heading as a race… Armageddon or Enlightment… the Jury is still out.
Now, “Complete Mankind” brings everything together, includes all four double albums over four CDs and a further four CDs of demos, outtakes and remixes…
Fifty-one tracks in total in this mammoth eight CD set.
