French Post-Progressive Rock/Metal act Siljan published the official video for the tracks “Tiredness” & “Solastalgia” taken from their third album “Solastalgia” out on January 22, 2024. Watch the video through the YouTube player below:
“Solastalgia” is Siljan‘s third album, written and composed between 2020 and 2023. The writing process is nourished by reflections around the concept of “Solastalgia,” a term invented and conceptualized by the Australian environmental philosopher, Glen Albrecht. We distinguish between solastalgia, linked to mourning for what is already lost, and eco-anxiety, linked to what may happen or be lost. This concept makes the link between human health and environmental health, in times of climate change.
This album is the result of a journey, and of the observation of our emotions: fear, sadness and anger, passing through anesthesia, to give way to a gentle lucidity, marked by a certain distancing. Then comes determination and the desire to find courage and meaning in everyday actions.
During the writing process, we wanted to address different topics related to solastalgia: eco-anxiety, criticism of capitalism, transhumanism, psychology and therapy, space conquest and headlong rush, parenthood and transmission, civic engagement, and importance of the arts in the search for meaning.
Finally, this record ends with a thank you to all the people with whom we were able to share moments of music and singing, and who nourished us through our lives as musicians. The final song, “Owls Orchestra,” is dedicated to them.
