“I Can Hear The Grass Grow” is the new EP by Stay, the Psychedelic Rock band from Barcelona. Released in December 2022 on 7” vinyl by the British label Fruits de Mer and digitally on 11/1/23 by their local label, Magic Mountain, it works as the perfect epilogue to their latest album, “Old Sounds Of Modern Music,” released in September 2021. The title comes from one of his songs: a cover of the British band The Move’s 1967 track, which maintains the uptempo rhythm and the hallucinogenic feeling of the original, the result of a risky guitar experimentation, especially with the 12-string guitar, as if it were a cosmic orchestra in another dimension.

In addition, the EP contains a new mix of ‘Get Going‘, that powerful first single of Psychedelic Rock and Glam Rock that “Old Sounds Of Modern Music” anticipated in its day. The remix, entitled ‘Get Going (UK Version),’ has been done by Roger Rodés, producer from Barcelona, winner of the Latin Grammy 2021 for Best Alternative Music Album, and has a powerful and raw sound.
To these two songs released on 7” vinyl by Fruits de Mer we have to add a third piece, the desperate, nostalgic and petty ‘Waiting To Fall,’ in this case available exclusively on the digital edition of “Magic Mountain” from 11 January 2023. A previously unreleased track taken from the recording sessions for their last album, carried out in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Stay are back on the Fruits de Mer label after far too long away and they have recorded their take on The Move’s classic sixties song, “I Can Hear The Grass Grow” exclusively for this release; they combine it with a new mix of “Get Going” from their latest album – Supergrass meets Oasis in Barcelona?
“I Can Hear The Grass Grow” was originally released by The Move in 1967. The song keeps the hallucinogenic feeling of the original, but Stay crank up the Psych element with some 12 string guitar experimentation; the song has been mixed and mastered by Latin Grammy award-winning producer Roger Rodés.

Chosen by Liam Gallagher twice to support his Beady Eye gigs in Madrid and Barcelona, Stay offer a mix of soft psychedelic sounds, early Charlatans or Fools Gold-era Roses, with maybe shades of Temples, Elephant Stone, Woods or Tame Impala. Stay were one of the first bands to record for Fruits de Mer, back in 2008, and played at our first gig as well as a Dr. Sardonicus festival.
