Plantagon, a new project emerging from Sweden’s active Rock scene, has released its debut single, “Time.” Fusing Progressive Rock structures with the Melodic and Theatrical sensibilities of Glam and Art Rock, the single introduces a sound characterized by Atmospheric depth and careful songwriting.

The driving force behind Plantagon is songwriter and vocalist Mikael Esplund. A seasoned figure in the Swedish music community, Esplund’s musical background heavily informs Plantagon‘s stylistic crossroads. Known for his distinctive vocal delivery, Esplund has spent years performing as the frontman of acclaimed tribute acts, including the David Bowie tribute dB: The Bowie Experience and the KISS tribute Dressed to Kiss (performing as Paul Stanley). His immersion in David Bowie‘s classic Art-Glam repertoire and the theatrical energy of 70s Rock brings a natural dramatic weight to Plantagon’s arrangements. Furthermore, Esplund‘s work as an original songwriter in Örebro, Sweden, has previously seen his material curated and performed by a wide collective of regional musicians.
With “Time,” Plantagon synthesizes these varied threads into a cohesive, Melodic piece. Rather than leaning into hyper-technical arrangements often associated with Progressive Rock, the debut track emphasizes narrative movement, spacious guitar work, and memorable vocal lines.
