Swedish Progressive Rock collective Bakelit returns this fall with its highly anticipated second album, “No Fear of Drowning,” set for worldwide release on September 26, 2025. The album will be preceded by two singles: “From the Underground” on September 5 and “Moment of Peace” on September 15.

Fans can already get a taste of what’s to come with a first teaser now available online:

Formed in 2023 as a collaboration led by acclaimed composer and keyboardist Carl Westholm (Carptree, Jupiter Society, Krux, Avatarium, Candlemass), Bakelit brings together a trusted network of musicians whose shared history and refined sonic identity make for a distinctive and cohesive sound.

Like their 2024 debut Asleep or Insane, the six tracks on “No Fear of Drowning” emerged from free-flowing sessions with unpredictable electronic machinery, later sculpted into dramatic compositions that merge Progressive and Art Rock with Electronic textures. Lyrically, the album dives into the darker aspects of the human psyche, yet these shadows are framed as sources of resilience and determination.

Adding further depth to the project, drummer Jonas Källsbäck (The Night Flight Orchestra, Gathering of Kings) joins the line-up for this release.

Carl Westholm’s pedigree speaks for itself: two recent albums with Hollingshead, a key role in Avatarium’s original lineup, ongoing collaborations with Candlemass, and a #3 ranking on The Prog Mind’s list of top keyboardists in 2024.

No Fear of Drowning” promises to build on that acclaim, offering a bold and immersive journey for fans of Carptree, Art Rock, and forward-thinking Progressive Music.
