The third single from UK/Taiwan Psychedelic Rock band Holotropics’ new album is directly inspired by the eartquakes that frequently befall Taiwan.

When composer/vocalist/guitarist Pei was writing the song, there was an earthquake. This experience made him realize the power hature has over us, and ties into the overall themes of Holotropics’ next album, which focuses on time, the power of the natural world, the inevitability of change, and the impermanence of everything.

Holotropics is currently based in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, and they released their debut album “Nikanash” in September 2024. Since then, the band has gone on to perform extensively in Taiwan, Japan, and the UK, with further dates in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Malaysia this year.

Holotropics isn’t a band that’s easy to define. While the Kaohsiung-based four-piece uses Psychedelia as its anchor, Holotropics isn’t afraid to incorporate diverse influences into its sound.

From Punk and Garage Rock to Experimental and World Music, Holotropics creates a unique form of Psychedelic Rock that can be both energetic and ethereal, heavy yet harmonious. Powerful guitar riffs, cosmic soundscapes, and multi-lingual lyrics delving into environmentalism, mysticism, and the human condition show that Holotropics is willing to evolve and grow outside traditional genre boundaries.

Holotropics won the Voice of the Child competition at the 2025 addition of Carnival Fever Festival in Taichung, Taiwan, and also performed as part of ‘The Next Big Thing’ at Legacy in Taipei, Taiwan.
