On 8 May 2026, Italian duo Taxology will release their debut album “A Deep Dive In The Colourful And Mysterious Garden Of Mr. Taxology” on CD and digital formats via NOS Records, the label run by Amerigo Verardi. The project was formed in Taranto, southern Italy, in 2024 by two remarkably young musicians, Andrea Rizzi (born 2007) and Giuseppe Bitonte (born 2006). The album was preceded by the single and video “Mandragora Caulescens.”

A Deep Dive In The Colourful And Mysterious Garden Of Mr. Taxology” unfolds as a cohesive 15-track concept album — an immersion into a hypnagogic, dreamlike garden guided by the narrating voice of Bruno Vergani. Throughout the record, the listener is led through a surreal landscape that gradually opens onto a deeper inner journey. Taxonomy — the scientific discipline that classifies living organisms — becomes both the poetic and structural backbone of the project. Several tracks take their titles from botanical nomenclature, transforming scientific classification into a metaphor for states of consciousness. The result is a kind of inner herbarium, a “psychic taxonomy” where each composition functions as a distinct organism within a larger sonic ecosystem.

Musically, the album drifts between moments of warmth and gentle disorientation, weaving together Psychedelic hues and Cinematic atmospheres. The songs shift between vintage-tinged moods and more contemporary textures, occasionally punctuated by Funky inflexions and brief orchestral swells. The instrumental palette is expansive: guitars, piano and keyboards move through arrangements coloured by strings and woodwinds, while sitar, mandolin and orchestral percussion add further depth to the album’s evolving soundscape.

Recorded, produced, arranged and mixed by Andrea Rizzi in his home studio in Taranto, the album reflects a handcrafted and exploratory approach to sound. Most compositions are written by Rizzi together with Giuseppe Bitonte, with additional contributions from Stefano Piancastelli and Wladimiro RizziElio Di Menza handled mastering.

More than simply a collection of tracks, “A Deep Dive In The Colourful And Mysterious Garden Of Mr. Taxology” invites listeners to step into an imagined garden where each piece behaves like a living organism — capable of becoming either poison or medicine depending on the listener’s perception and inner season.

Taxology is a project formed in 2024 in Taranto, southern Italy, by Andrea Rizzi and Giuseppe Bitonte, who first met while studying at music high school. From the outset, the duo developed a compositional approach built around sonic hybridisation and layered soundscapes, in which Psychedelia, Cinematic atmospheres, Orchestral textures, and Contemporary rhythms coexist. Their artistic identity centres on the idea of classification as a creative act, transforming scientific taxonomy into a narrative framework capable of organising emotions, visions and imaginary landscapes through music. “A Deep Dive In The Colourful And Mysterious Garden Of Mr. Taxology” marks the first chapter of this evolving artistic project.
