The Chronicles of Manimal and Samara are excited to announce the release of their forthcoming second album, “Trust No Leaders” on July 1st, 2022. Following the release of their debut album, “Full Spectrum” in February 2021, TCOMAS recorded their sophomore album “Trust No Leaders” between April and August 2021 at their studio in Camden Town, London.
Hailed as ‘pioneers of a new form of expression’ with their trademark performance of poetry in music, The Chronicles of Manimal and Samara (TCOMAS) are a UK-based duo comprising Daphne Ang (Singapore) and Andrea Papi (Italy). Since their inception in London in early 2020, the duo have steadily gained a reputation for their musical and lyrical innovations. fills a gap in music by bringing literature, theatre, and history, fusing rock and metal, with poetry performance.
Andrea: “We revisited the roots of metal, and drew inspiration from music from the past and present, east and west. But we really moved forward to create something new with this album. This change forward is in the importance we place on our lyrics and the clarity of words. The message of a song is what makes music meaningful. Music without a message, is like a person without a soul.”
While rooted in Metal and Rock, the album is a confluence of instruments and influences drawn from non-western Folk and Classical musical traditions, including Native American and South American Folk music, Vedic chants, and Indo-Persian Classical music.
“Trust No Leaders is definitely much heavier and darker than our first album, both musically and lyrically. The current crisis and the events of our time have made it necessary for us to analyse, investigate, and expose the issues in urgent need of systemic change and look inwards into the human condition.“
Daphne: “However, ‘Trust No Leaders’ is not about politics. It’s not about who or what is right or wrong. To know and assert our place in this world, and to open one’s eyes and see. But above all, the need to be conscious of your inner world. Despite its dark tone, we wanted the album to be a beacon of hope for making a future that prioritises people and the environment.“
Trust No Leaders will release worldwide on July 1, 2022
