On Friday, November 17, the single “It’s Forever Midnight” by The Cosmic Gospel, the solo Psych Rrock/Lo-fi project of the Italian musician Gabriel Medina, will be released on major digital platforms and stores. It serves as the fresh and intriguing preview of the debut album “Cosmic Songs For Reptiles In Love,” which will be released on December 15 in CD and digital formats by the Italian label Bloody Sound.
The Cosmic Gospel (a name inspired by the animated series ‘The Midnight Gospel‘) is a sound trip without a destination. It’s a journey of distorted drums, synths, fuzz, love, Psychedelic melodies and despair. Behind this cosmic entity is Gabriel Medina, a multi-instrumentalist musician from the Marche region, active for years in various bands in the Macerata area, including Hapnea and Bruxa. The album, produced independently, originates from ideas and lost takes over time, later recovered and transformed with the brilliant influence of artists like The Beatles, Damon Albarn, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Spiritualized, Ty Segall, Beck and Donovan.
“It’s Forever Midnight” is the track that opens the album and is one of the most frantic. While seemingly cheerful and carefree, it actually hides a grotesque story featuring the old Mr Goose, a ne’er-do-well who spies on young girls from his window, trying to lure them into his house of horrors. It’s the first of the eight surreal stories that populate the album, a continuous journey through emotional roller coasters.
