After releasing the single “Patient M” earlier this month and announcing last week that they will be at the next edition of Alhambra Monkey Week, The Silver Linings return today 29th September with “Cosmic Excursions,” the second preview of their imminent debut album “Pink Fish,” available on 11th October via Spinda Records.

September has been a busy month for the young Malaga band The Silver Linings… With only 3 concerts behind them, at the beginning of the month they released “Patient M” as the first preview of their debut album, “Pink Fish” (available on 11 October via Spinda Records, although it can already be pre-ordered). Immediately, many Spanish media such as Ruta 66, Muzikalia or La Habitación 235 and international media such as The Obelisk (US), Doomed Nation (SL) or Progressive Rock Journal (IT) echoed the news and spoke highly of the band’s sound. Now, just two weeks before their debut album sees the light of day, they release “Cosmic Excursions” as their second single accompained by the official lyric video. On this occasion, the band offers a side much closer to Psychedelia and 60’s Space Rock that will delight fans of bands like Rolling Stones, Hawkwind or the now extinct Acid Mess and Atavismo.

Just a few days later they signed to independent label Spinda Records (Moura, Fin del Mundo, Moundrag, Maragda) and went back to the studio to record some additional tracks. The Silver Linings draw from 20th century science fiction, the literature of Moorcock, the illustrations of Moebius, the cinema of Tarkovski, the work of Jodorowsky and the poetry of the beat generation; as well as natural spaces in Andalusia such as the Torcal de Antequera, the desert of Gorafe, the dunes of Bolonia and the Strait of Gibraltar. Because of the kind of music they make and the fact that they live in the south of Spain, they could be part of the new wave of Psychedelic Rock in Andalusia, together with bands like Atavismo, Híbrido, Lunavieja, Medicina, Santo Rostro, Mía Turbia, Gu Vo or DMBK; although their sound – closer to Acid-Psych-Space-Kraut-Rock – makes you think more of bands like Causa Sui, Hawkwind or Can.
