The Slingers have today announced “Streets of Tokyo” the second single from their upcoming debut album due out in 2023 on Flightless Records. Streets of Tokyo is a loving paean to the musical stylings of the early 1980s, with nods to Bowie‘s “Let’s Dance” period in both production and instrumentation. Tokyo is a a Pop song at it’s core; with both tongue-in-cheek lyricism & haunting imagery, a pulsing 4/4 kick drum and a killer Pop hook that can’t be denied. It’s the perfect track to kick off the sad silly season.
The Slingers have been actively gigging and self-releasing home recordings in Melbourne since 2017. These recordings have garnered a cult following on Youtube & Spotify resulting in packed pubs and sold out crowds all over town. This track follows on from “Our Last Day in the Sun” that was released last month.
