[News] Tool to celebrate 30th anniversary of “Opiate” with newly reimagined “Opiate2”

Tool announced a “reimagined and extended” version of their 1992 track “Opiate,” along with an accompanying short film. “Opiate2” will be released in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the group’s 1992 debut EP “Opiate” and will also be made available on Blu-ray with an accompanying short film on March 18, 2021 through RCA Records.

The band’s guitarist Adam Jones worked alongside visual artist Dominic Hailstone (‘Alien: Covenant‘, ‘The Eel‘) on that 10-minute feature, which will serve as the band’s first new video release in 15 years.

The band says: “The clip continues Tool’s knack for merging the aural and visual worlds, creating an all-encompassing experience for the listener that has been a hallmark of the outfit since their inception. Hailstone and Jones also collaborated on the filmed pieces featured on the current Fear Inoculum tour.

The Blu-ray release will be featured within a 46-page art book featuring behind the scenes photos along with interviews and insight from special guests.
