Trevor‘s comment:
“Signing for Inside Out was the most natural solution. Thomas and I have been friends for a while and we always planned to collaborate. As I neared the completion of the recordings I called Thomas. It was so easy and natural. I am extremely happy to be working with the Inside Out team and to be part of the Sony family.“
Thomas Waber of InsideOut Music comments:
“Working with Trevor is a memorable moment for me and for the label. I have become a fan of him and his writing style since the early 80s and have been following him constantly ever since. He is one of the true Greats of rock music. ‘Rio’ is everything we could have hoped for and more!“
Although he has carved out a long and diverse career, South African Trevor Rabin is best known for his 12-year, four-album membership of YES as well as the legendary hit “Owner Of A Lonely Heart” that topped the Billboard America charts. Rabin was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame with the band in 2017 and more recently collaborated with former YES members Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman in the trio ARW.
Trevor Rabin has kept us waiting for a long time as his previous solo album “Can’t Look Away” was released in 1989 while 2012’s “Jacaranda” was completely instrumental. Trevor admits that there was pressure from all sides, including his family, to speed up the process. However, the delay is excusable. After leaving YES after the “Talk” album in 1994 and largely as a prequel to touring as part of ARW in 2016, the guitarist entered the complicated world of film soundtracks. Trevor‘s name appears as a composer on blockbusters such as Con Air, Armageddon, Remember the Titans, Enemy Of The State, Deep Blue, The Taste Of Victory and Out In 60 Seconds.
“In the last ten years I had ideas, concepts that I could not implement because of my busy schedule. To be honest, those years flew by in a whirlwind. I knew this was the time and once I found my momentum I worked on the album 24/7.”
“Rio,” named after Rabin‘s granddaughter, features a painting by Trevor himself on the cover and will be available for pre-order from 4 August in various formats. More information will be available soon.
