Started by Avant-Garde writer Brian Anthony Horustopheles Labrecque, Atheist Alien are a spoken-word Doom-Folk band hailing from the USA.
Featuring Dark ethereal spoken-word poetry in the tradition of the Iliad, the Mahabharata and Edgar Allan Poe, fused with dark Pagan Folk music and the brutality of Doom Metal.
Accompanied by a cast of brutally talented musicians like drummer Simon Skrlec, flutist Akshat, organist Isaac Oyelola, bassist Pablo Vilches and guest vocalist Robert Lowe (ex-Candlemass, ex-Solitude Aeturnus).
Now, Atheist Alien presents “A Mass of Candles,” a reimagining of the legendary Doom Metal masterpiece “Epicus Doomicus Metallicus,” in its entirety, sounding like nothing you’ve ever heard before.

In Sweden, on a very cold, Dark, and magical night in 1986, there was a planetary alignment of fate, fire, and forgotten gods. What was recorded became one of the most amazing Metal albums of all time.
What you are listening to now is a tribute to those who summoned that album, “Epicus Doomicus Metallicus,” into existence.
We knew it would be impossible, and foolish, to try to replicate it.
So instead, we chose another path. We stripped away the guitar, raised a gothic pipe organ in its place, and laced the music with dark,mythical spoken-word poetry to further the stories already etched into each track.
This is not a replacement. It is an offering.
