The Genoese Heavy Prog/Post-Metal band Varego has unveiled the official visualizer for the single “Macchie,” the first track taken from their new album “Denti di Cane,” due out in February 2024. Watch the video through the YouTube player below:
Inspired by the closing track of their previous album “Raptus (un passo e muori),” the only one sung in their mother tongue, Varego decided to take this new route by composing an entire album of songs in Italian, which could represent the closing of a circle or the beginning of a new cycle for the band.
“Macchie is the most introspective track on this new album. We live in a world where everything runs very fast, out of sync with the natural rhythm of life. The quest for perfection, performance at work, the race for money, the fictitious well-being of material things, are the main cause of daily malaise. Stress, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, are the most common illnesses of modern society. All this can become lighter when one makes the decision to stop for a moment and reflect. Get back in touch with nature, alone with yourself, see things more from above, admire the colours of a sunset or the majesty of a stormy sea. Reflect on what we call mistakes, perceived as blemishes in our consciousness, but which in reality are the result of our nature as human beings and take us along seemingly unexpected paths. Perfection does not change destiny, ever. This is one of the messages we wanted to convey with this song, which, being intimate and introspective, can be made one’s own, by those who listen to it.”

Varego formed in Arenzano (GE) in 2009 and the name derives from a local plant whose characteristics are curative or venomous depending on the intent with which it is used. With a matrix stylistically rooted in the sounds of bands such as Mastodon, Alice In Chains, Voivod and Neurosis, the band has managed to find a completely personal imprint over time. The sound has become notably more powerful over the years, an exanthem with echoes of Grunge, Stoner Rock, Post-Metal and Prog Rock that has pushed the band’s evolution one step further.
