Your new favorite Doom/Shoegaze/Noise Rock band hails from Bern and is set to release its debut album, “Hey Lester!” on September 13, 2024 via Humus Records. Sisters Miriam and Julia Wolf have been active in the Swiss underground music scene for well over a decade, both playing in bands and organizing shows in Bern. I’ve known them for years, and because of our very busy release schedule, they waited months for me to find the time to listen to the album. I’m so glad they were patient because this record is truly fantastic. Catch them live at their release party on Sept. 12th at Bad Bonn in Düdingen [CH] supporting .

First single “Horses in my Head” now out everywhere: https://humusrecords.ffm.to/horsesinmyhead

Horses In My Head’ is a urgent exploration of personal identity and social constraints wrapped in noisy post-hardcore sound. The song opens with “Trouble no more!” which suggests the urge to pull ourselves out of the swamp of social and emotional exhaustion that can greatly affect our overall well being and productivity. The recurring question ‘Do You Like Me?’ reflects a deepseated need for validation and acceptance, both from individuals and society at large. Horses In My Head is a straightforward piece that defies the quest of approval.

Wolfer’s first full-length album, “Hey, Lester!” captures the band’s unfiltered intensity and chaotic beauty.
Formed in 2020 by the sisters Miriam and Julia Wolf, and later joined by drummer Miles Zuberbühler, Wolfer solidified their ability to create a diverse experience involving their different musical approaches. Fascinated by the uncertain and transformative period following a crisis, Wolfer’s music resonates with urgency and raw emotion.

Influenced by Part Chimp and guided by its singer and guitarist Tim Cedar, wolfer’s journey led them to producer Ben Turner at Axe and Trap Studios in Wells, Somerset.
Turner’s production aesthetic, known for capturing raw energy while maintaining clarity, complements wolfer’s blend of noisy riffs, pounding drums and captivating vocals.
Recorded in 2023, “Hey, Lester!” shows wolfer at their most dynamic. Tracks like “Your Glory,” “Horses in My Head,” and “Carol” balance warm distorted beauty with hectic and almost dreamy parts.

Hey, Lester!” invites listeners to join wolfer on a journey. Their music reflects a heartfelt response to uncertainty and transformation. With Ben Turner’s guidance, wolfer delivers an album that speaks without pretense, inviting listeners to connect with their raw and energetic sound.
