PRJ Vol 29

Welcome to the 29th volume of the Progressive Rock Journal Compilation. Titled “Wanderlust Symphonies,” this volume develops an esoteric, archeo-spatial narrative, a nomadic journey tracing the continuum from ancient terrestrial monoliths and lunar origins to quantum portals, Martian revelations, and human vulnerability in the desert sands. Visualized through warm desert tones and seamless fluid dynamics, Vol. XXIX unites five international acts in an interconnected musical arc.

01. P3RMAFROST – Astral Projector

The Primordial Roots / Monumental Era: Opening the compilation, a Heavy wall of twin guitars establishes ancestral, brutalist energy, evoking ancient monoliths and forgotten earth-lunar energy structures.

Artist Statement / Quote:P3RMAFROST is essentially a project that started with Christian Colabelli and I. Christian had just moved to Nashville from New York and we started hanging out. I invited Christian to come over and jam and play on a demo track that I wrote and it sounded pretty good so we made a playthrough video…which only about 200 people watched. Since that time we started writing music together weekly and the end result of that is the 5 song EP we just released. We mainly wanted to improvise over chord changes but also include elements of prog rock, metal as well as post rock and ambient guitar stuff. Our primary goal was to write listenable guitar music that is badass, exciting but also pleasing to the ear.

02. Chercán – Pareidolia

The Origin / The Builders: Navigating the connection between Earth and Moon, complex Latin Prog Fusion motifs invoke the watchful Sphinx in satellite shadows, marking the gateway to primordial creators.

Artist Statement / Quote:Chercán is a fusion rock band from Chile that is currently promoting the first single from their second studio album, which will be released next month.
The band released their debut album in 2025, which was accompanied by a national and international tour (including Mexico).

03. Jonathan Crossley, David Kollar, Lukas Ligeti – They Are Coming

The Core / Cosmic Chaos: Positioned at the exact center of the compilation, this Avant-Garde piece acts as a quantum portal, unleashing unstructured cosmic energy that tears through monoliths to bridge terrestrial and interplanetary realms.

Artist Statement / Quote:They Are Coming captures the more urgent, progressive-rock side of Solace, with David, Lukas and me building the piece entirely in the moment from expanded guitars, electronics and shifting polymetric rhythms. The whole album grew from that same process: listening closely, responding instinctively and allowing the music to find its own direction.

04. Cydonia – Heart Of Stone

The New Dimension / Martian Revelation: Presented as advanced single, Melodic Symphonic Prog guides the journey onto the red desert of Cydonia, peering through ancient mysteries and unveiling the hidden truths of creation.

Artist Statement / Quote:What if there was a chance to look at things in a different way, in a parallel world, in another dimension? What if there was no promise of return? Would you step through the gate for a SECOND SIGHT?

05. Splink – The Waters of Kashgar

The Closure / The Human Condition: Closing the narrative, warm Folk Prog and Silk Road modal scales return to the human dimension, merging alien technology and cosmic chaos with sand, flesh, and desert endurance.

Artist Statement / Quote:What is No Rules Music? Well, we play music from the heart that is sometimes aggressive, sometimes laid back, sometimes jazzy, we see no reason why to stick to rules about how certain musical genre should be played, if it sounds good and touches the soul then why not. The one thing that ties us together is the love of and joy of music and if you play with an open heart and mind then hopefully the audience will feel the honesty of the music and come along for the ride, come and enjoy the journey with us.
