[Review] Bird – Wintertale

Bird is an Italian band that offers Heavy Psych and Blues features, with references to the music of the late 60’s and early 70’s. From the mini-album released in early 2021 was a 2-track single titled “Wintertale,” released on December 24, 2021, featuring a Uriah Heep cover “The Wizard.” The open and tile track of the single “Wintertale” is also the longest in duration, exceeding 5 minutes. It begins with a good interplay of acistic guitar and a mid-tempo on which an expressive and biting vocal is inserted. Well composed and performed, it takes us back to the atmosphere of the past by creating a good blend of different styles of Rock. The intensity increases with the passage of the song which offers a good guitar solo insert in the finale. The second track of this work is Uriah Heep’s cover “The Wizard,” proposed here without upsetting the structure of the song, but interpreting it with your own personal touch. A good single where the band shows a softer facet of their sound both on the first track and on the cover. A very intense single with a good vocal interpretation and a solid and well executed sound. A listening recommended for lovers of 70s-style Rock sounds, a pleasant blast from the past for a band that manages to bring those atmospheres back to the present day.
