Fabrizio Leo aka “Bicio” was born in Abbiategrasso (MI) in 1971 and from the age of 16 he became passionate about the guitar, starting to study as a self-taught. After learning the basics, he decides to specialize in the study of the Rock and Fusion genre, thanks to the teaching of masters of the genre such as Greg Howe, Vinnie Moore among others. Subsequently, after having refined his technique, he dedicated himself to teaching, offering guitar lessons always in Rock and Fusion genres. Fabrizio boasts collaborations with top-level artists on the Italian scene including Renato Zero, Fiorella Mannoia, Biagio Antonacci, Ron, to name but a few, as well as having worked for numerous successful commercials and television programs. His eclectic and virtuoso style is best expressed in his solo records, whose latest “The Mothman” was released in February 2022 and contains 17 tracks. An album with very refined sounds, where the artist freely expresses his virtuoso technique on the guitar, offering intricate passages with frenetic and very well elaborated solos. We are in a completely different context from her usual performances with the artists mentioned above, where she mainly accompanies songwriters. In this entirely instrumental album, on the other hand, it offers a wide range of sounds between Rock and Fusion, with tracks enriched by continuous tempo changes and long solo textures that make the most of the “Bicio” technique, certainly one of the best. Italian guitarists in business. He is able to propose a wide range of sounds and in passing from harder and more drawn tracks with forays into the heavier sounds of Rock, with others more Jazzy and closer to Fusion. Intense from start to finish, this work has nothing to envy to the outputs of the guitar virtuosos, managing to create tracks that differ from each other in genre and style, always with the unmistakable brand of Fabrizio. It ranges from the most retro and classic sounds for a record of virtuosity, to others more modern and fresh, which certainly give a future and new oxygen to the genre. Very talented and with an excellent technique, he manages to propose original tracks, without falling into something already heard. Tracks with more Heavy connotations alternate, tracing the sounds of the great classics of guitar virtuosos like Steve Vai, passing through softer ones, with the artist showing off his technique both in the slower parts and in the frenetic accelerations that characterize the changes of time. Engaging riffs, structures and solid rhythmic sessions that allow the artist to freely develop the virtuous and technically charged solo parts, in which the artist offers very intense interweaving between accelerations and softer and more reasoned passages. Within this valuable work “Bicio” explores with technique and refinement the Rock sounds with Fusion colors and the result is of high level and absolute quality. A listening recommended to all lovers of albums full of virtuosity with the guitar and the artist’s technique at the center of the project. Fabrizio “Bicio” Leo confirms himself to be one of the most talented guitarists on the Italian scene, providing the listener with all his technique and experience, which have allowed him over the years to collaborate with the best artists of Italian music and beyond. Another excellent chapter in the solo discography of “Bicio” which proves to be in great shape, proposing and developing quality ideas, well composed and performed, an excellent album from start to finish.
