[Review] Hooveriii – A Round of Applause

Hooveriii is a Psychedelic Rock band originally from Los Angeles, USA that have released 3 full-lengths evolving their sound with each album. The third “A Round of Applause” was released on July 29, 2022 and contains 11 tracks with a shorter duration than the previous ones and a more concise approach in the composition phase. The sound is energetic and engaging, exploring and blending different aspects of Psychedelia both retro and with a more modern approach. A band that shows its love for the Rock of the late 60s, revived with a personal touch, passing with ease from more Psychedelic tracks to other Space-Rock through Krautrock. An album that offers a wide range of sounds and genres that blend, with each track having the honor of differentiating itself from the others, enhancing the many ideas that the band has to propose. Departing from previous releases that more celebrated Psychedelic music in the purest sense of the term, here the band adds a pop touch to the sound, trying to reach a wider audience. An album that still contains refined and never banal ideas, also bringing into play a large amount of sounds with tradition that is perfectly linked to innovation. Direct tracks that immediately take hold on the listener, leading him to explore a musical territory where the band goes beyond the boundaries of genres thanks to their personal touch. An intense listening from beginning to end, where lovers of Rock sounds will find an album that manages to bring the atmosphere of the 60s into a fresh and modern context. In these 8 years the band has certainly shown itself both in studio records and in live performances, this release is another step forward. A recommended album, where the sound is solid and mature, enriched by quality ideas, well composed and performed, where in a time between about 3 and 4 minutes they develop the tracks in a direct and effective way. The tour in the USA scheduled for 2022 certainly rewards the qualities of the band, one of the most interesting to listen to live in its genre.
