Stockholm, Sweden based Heavy Rock band Möuth, offers a blend of Stoner/Doom that can be defined as proto-Metal. The debut album “Global Warning” was released on February 14, 2025 via Bonebag Records and contains 9 tracks between 4 and over 6 minutes long. Solid drumming and Heavy guitar riffs open “Holy Ground,” the album’s first track and also the band’s first released single. An intense vocal characterises the band’s sound, immediately immersing us in the musical atmosphere that characterises the album. Well constructed tempo changes characterise the rhythm section, complemented by deep bass lines, while the guitar offers Heavy riffs and good melodic line work. In the finale, the guitar offers a lead cue as sharp as a blade. A granitic and energetic sound characterises “Dirt,” with precisely dirty guitar riffs and a rhythmic pull with a killer bassline. A track that incorporates Garage Rock sounds to the track, with a dynamic, punchy vocal and frenetic tempo changes. An engaging track that brings retro sounds into a modern context with distinctly personal traits. Linking up with the final riff of the previous “Speed of Life,” it alternates dark passages with more melodic Rock vocals and references to Garage and retro Heavy Rock. An alternation of sung parts and intense instrumentals with the guitar always playing a leading role. The album’s longest track “Sheep” opens with good drumming to which guitar arpeggios are added, creating an enveloping sound. With the entry of the vocals, the band returns to heavy rock sounds, with that proto-Metal touch that characterises their style. Intense vocal parts and continuous tempo changes allow the theme to evolve with sophisticated passages and good instrumental textures. The band exploits the long duration to develop an excellent Heavy Rock track that explores all the facets that characterise their personal style, with an extended instrumental section in the second half. A short 1:29-minute interlude, “World Pain,” features dreamy atmospheres with guitar arpeggios that lead us to the following. “Appetite” opens with Heavy guitar riffs and a granitic sound between doom and proto-metal, with sophisticated passages and tempo changes. The sound is solid and the vocals incisive, with the band displaying their heaviest and gloomy traits. The chorus of this track sticks in the mind, making us sing along during the song but also afterwards. “Alike” is characterised by tight drumming and a killer deep, driving bassline over which the guitar is inserted with psychedelic solo textures. The vocal, enriched by effects, shows a certain Post-Punk infleunctiveness that allows the track to be a showcase for an other facet of the band, adept at mixing genres and styles with their own personal touch. Amid dreamy atmospheres, layering and psychedelic passages, the driving rhythm section accompanies us to the finale of this enthralling track. A deep bass line with gloomy atmospheres opens “Mantra” to which guitar textures and another solid and elaborate rhythm section intertwine. A dynamic and expressive vocal interprets the lyrics, with the song alternating more heavy passages with fine guitar work and a granitic rhythm section. The album termian with “In My City,” a track that explores modern Heavy Rock sounds with distorted guitars and solid drumming. The band shows a more raw sound with scratchy guitars and an elaborate rhythm section with valuable tempo changes. Good debut for this band that we had gotten to know through the singles that anticipated the album release. An enjoyable listen from start to finish, presenting this band’s sound between Heavy Rock, Doom and proto-Metal with distorted guitars and a solid and elaborate rhythm section. The vocal patios are dynamic and expressive with the songs exolorating the different facets of the band’s sound. A recommended listen for lovers of Heavy Rock sounds with markedly personal traits and an intense tracklist from start to finish.
