Seedy Jeezus are an Australian band with sounds permeated by the atmosphere of the 1970s reinterpreted in a modern key. Between Psychedelia, Space Rock and a Heavy touch given by Stoner influences. On June 23, 2022, they released “Tranquonauts,” an album consisting of two epic tracks of over 19 minutes in which Isaiah Mitchell also participates. First of the two tracks, “The Vanishing Earth” opens with a hypnotic, load-bearing bass line and eclectic, elaborate drumming. Guitar and keyboard interludes are inserted with extended solos that create a lysergic atmosphere that brings retro atmospheres back into a modern and personal context. Individual technique is put at the service of the band, creating a very intense ensemble sound with refined interlacing where everyone expresses their qualities. Tempo changes are a constant, evolving the central theme of the song and working to perfection with modulations and effects, creating an excellent synergy between all the artists involved. A trip that takes us to explore the different horizons of both Psychedelia and Space Rock, between the genre’s past and future, always keeping the intensity very high. In the final part, the band concludes the track in a musical crescendo enriched by the effects. The second track that makes up the album “Escape from the Rift” opens with a clearly lysergic sampled vocal. The rhythm section moves slowly, with keyboards intertwining with the guitar, creating a very psychedelic enveloping atmosphere. The first part evolves on softer, acid-like sounds, with the vocal inserts leading us with references to taking LSD. The guitar offers refined solo inserts with references to Blues-soaked Psychedelia, while the rhythm section is hypnotic in its bass lines. In the tempo changes the band accelerates and increases the intensity with distortion and heavier sounds, always with a Psychedelic imprint. A pleasant journey that ends again in a musical crescendo. A band with a marked aptitude for psychedelic sounds, offering two long tracks in which they explore all facets of the genre. Solo textures, well-constructed tempo changes and a good malgam between the instruments that are free to evolve the central theme of the tracks. A recommended listen for lovers of psychedelic sounds with references to the past and a marked personal style, an excellent album from start to finish.
