[Review] Sun Mantra – Fertilizer/Wrath

Sun Mantra are a band from Knoxville, Tennessee, playing Heavy Psych and Doom Metal with influences of Blues Rock. Their new single, titled “Fertiliser/Wrath,” was released on April 4, 2025, and features two intense tracks. The single opens with “Fertilizer,” characterized by a rough sound and incisive vocals, accompanied by a gritty rhythm section. Distorted guitar riffs add power, as do the aggressive vocals, creating a musical crescendo that blends Heavy Psych and Doom Metal with dark atmospheres. The second track, “Wrath,” alternates more Psychedelic passages with heavier and more aggressive sections, offering an interesting contrast. It’s fascinating how the band manages to fuse Heavy Psych and Doom through solid instrumental textures, with a tight rhythm section and Heavy guitar riffs. This single is engaging and demonstrates a modern and personal sound capable of effectively combining Psychedelia and Doom. Ultimately, Sun Mantra deliver a good single, full of energy and character, which will delight fans of Heavy Music and its modern facets. With this work, the band confirms the talent already shown in the past and leaves good hope for a future full-length album.
