Two Argentine bands of fuzzed-out Heavy Psych/Doom with 70s reminiscences Wicca333 and No Stone join forces on this new split album. Entitled “Evil Woman, Bloody Murderer…” it was released on August 30, 2024 and contains four tracks (two for each artist) ranging from three to over six minutes in length. The tracklist opens with Wicca333 and the addictive “Evil Lands,” the shortest in duration but a concentrate of energetic and lysergic Heavy Psych. Effects-enriched vocals combine with well-constructed guitar riffs and a solid rhythm section with a killer, deep, driving bassline. Definitely a great start. The band continues to explore heavy psych sounds in “Her Eyes,” featuring a solid and engaging rhythm section and fuzzy guitar. The vocals are enriched with effects, while the guitar offers well-constructed riffs and well-crafted solo inserts. A dynamic and addictive track with another bassline that gives the track body. An interesting instrumental section highlights the guitar duets, before returning to the central theme and concluding. The second part of the Split opens with “Am I Demon,” a track by No Stone, which immediately takes us into another musical territory. the band delivers Heavy Rock steeped in Doom and dark, psychedelic guitar riffs, the rhythm section is solid and elaborate and enriched with tempo changes. The atmospheres of the song are dark and the vocals add a Psychedelic and mischievous touch to the sound, bringing retro atmospheres into a modern context. In the second part, the band interweaves instrumental sections and vocal parts that accompany us intensely until the finale. The keyboards certainly allow more stylistic solutions to the band and characterise the sound by adding a gloomy touch. The tracklist ends with No Stone‘s second track, “Stone Woman,” which opens with distorted guitar riffs, sharp as blades. With the entry of the effects-enriched cantatom, the band develops a Doom Rock and Heavy Psych sound that combines the past and present of the two genres. Interesting guitar and keyboard mixtures, as well as solo inserts, add a dark touch to the song’s atmosphere. In the finale, the band inserts sampled vocals and a sung section concludes the album. An excellent split album, which enhances the sound of both bands, developing the tracklist in a very interesting musical crescendo. The first part (Wicca333) presents more heavy psych sounds, while in the second (No Stone) the band incorporates darker, doom-like elements. An intense listen from start to finish, recommended for lovers of Heavy Rock sounds between Psychedelkia and Doom, with gloomy traits.
