Gdansk Macabre” was recorded live in March 2024, at Hidden Planet Studio in Berlin.
This video captures the recording of the song “Midnight Suffer” for the album. All songs on the album were recorded live.

The instrumental power trio from Berlin — known for fusing Heavy Post-Prog textures with the darker spirit of 90s Alternative, Metal, and Stoner Rock — push their signature sound into deeper, more cinematic territory.

Born from the long-running vision of guitarist Alessio Vocale and bassist Marko Dukic, and solidified when drummer 666tin joined in 2019, SOWA quickly evolved from a jam project into a force of crushing riffs, intricate arrangements, and raw, grunge-tinged energy. Along a string of acclaimed EPs — the latest of which introducing the new guitarist Stefan Matussek – the band weathered setbacks and pandemic silence to craft their first full-length album.

Recorded in spring 2024, “Gdansk Macabre” pairs 11 dynamic, riff-driven tracks with a striking visual concept created by Gdansk-based photographer Marta Adaszewska — an evocative monochrome world mirroring the album’s brooding power. For the first time the band also brought in various guest vocalists to add yet another layer to a few selected songs on the record, which also marks the beginning of a new chapter with bassist David Petersen stepping in after its recording, bringing renewed momentum and creative fire.

Self-released digitally and on CD in late 2025, “Gdansk Macabre” captures SOWA at their heaviest, darkest, and most focused yet — an uncompromising, mostly instrumental journey that cements the trio as one of Berlin’s most compelling underground acts.
