[News] Abrams release blazing new single off upcoming “Blue City” album and announce West Coast tour

Denver, Colorado’s genre-bending Heavy Rockers Abrams unleash a gripping new track taken from their new album “Blue City,” to be issued on May 24th through Blues Funeral Recordings. The band is set to embark on an extensive West Coast co-headline tour with Doom Metallers Goya this June.

Following the release of their cathartic “Fire Waltz” video, Abrams reveal their pulsating and riff-driven new track “Tomorrow” today. Frontman Zachary Amster about the creative process and theme: “When we started writing for the new record, we wanted a clear shift and progression in our sound. We wanted to kick off the album and showcase this upfront with ‘Tomorrow’, featuring some soaring vocals into a fury of drum fills escaping into a psychedelic wash of bass-driven groove. The lyrics say, ‘Tomorrow needs you…’. It’s about not giving up and not listening to the bad voices.

Fusing melody and dissonance, Abrams blast forth a cathartic mix of catchy, driving rhythms, soaring vocals and ethereal ambiance into the Heavy music landscape. Wielding elements of Heavy Rock, Shoegaze, Grunge and Post-Metal with ease and fluency, they create a crystalline heaviness that’s bittersweet and nostalgic yet also gazes forward. The Denver band’s arresting sound finds them sharing terrain with Torche and Cave In, while their penchant for crunchy, irresistibly hooky riffs recalls Alt-Rock icons Quicksand. Even so, their swirling meld of influences isn’t the totality of Abrams.

Their new album “Blue City” is where genre-defying heaviness and perfect melodic songcraft converge, a sojourn through lush, cinematic passages and contemplative psychedelia. Its lyrics describe a metaphorical prison, a cold but familiar place where fear of change and the impossibility of action lead to paradoxical, crushing comfort. It was recorded and produced by Kurt Ballou (Converge, High On Fire) at his legendary GodCity Studio.

Abrams started in 2013 in Denver, Colorado, with guitarist/vocalist Zach Amster and bassist/vocalist Taylor Iversen at the helm. Later joined by drummer Ryan DeWitt, the thunderous trio has always made a point of honor at crafting compelling melodies driven by blistering energy. From the full-blown Progressive Sludge and Post-Hardcore aggression of their debut album “Lust. Love. Loss.” (2015) and follow-up “Morning” (2017), the band has honed their craft and revealed their magnetism with 2020’s “Modern Ways,” yet it is the moody and mountain-heavy rock venture of their fourth full-length “In The Dark” that saw Abrams taking their music journey to the next level.

Produced by Dave Otero (Khemmis, Cattle Decapitation), “In The Dark” showcases an expansive collection of AmpRep-worthy Post-Grunge tunes that trigger a wide range of emotions through luscious guitar hooks, brooding leads and outstanding vocals.

Having shared the stage with UnsaneKEN modeKing BuffaloKhemmisJaye Jayle or Emma Ruth RundleAbrams has always strived to deliver memorable live shows. A spearhead of the Denver Rock scene, the foursome has recently joined the ranks of tastemaker label Blues Funeral Recordings for a spring 2024 release of their fifth album “Blue City,” which they recorded with Converge‘s riffmaster and producer Kurt Ballou at GodCity Studio
