Lizard Records announce the release of “Sentiere,” the new single by Airportman in collaboration with visual artist Egidio Marullo, taken from the upcoming album “Erva De Ientu.” The project represents a deep and carefully crafted encounter between sound and image, conceived as a unified artistic work where music and painting continuously influence one another.

Erva De Ientu—which translates as “wind grass” in the Salento dialect—refers to the spontaneous vegetation growing on coastal dunes, capable of taking root in the sand despite its apparent fragility. Exposed to the northern winds, salt air, and human presence, this resilient grass becomes a powerful metaphor for the album’s core concept: an idea of resistance through delicacy, persistence through subtlety.
The Airportman project, originally formed in 2003 by Giovanni Risso and Marco Lamberti, has always developed along instrumental paths, moving within a personal and introspective interpretation of Post-Rock. Over the years, the project has released a steady flow of works defined by evocative minimalism, rarefied chamber-like atmospheres, and an intimate, almost whispered sonic language, where silence and space are as meaningful as sound itself.
With “Erva De Ientu,” this musical identity finds a new dimension through collaboration. The album consists of six tracks, each paired with a corresponding painting by Egidio Marullo. The result is presented as a large-format 18×18 cm cardboard edition, conceived not only as a listening experience, but also as a tactile and visual object—something to be observed, handled, and inhabited.
Musically, the album unfolds as a slow and immersive journey, where every sound seems to preserve fragments of landscape, movements of air, and fleeting memories. Rather than demanding interpretation, “Erva De Ientu” invites the listener to remain within its nuances, silences, and subtle vibrations. Its strength lies in an intentional delicacy: a poetic form of resistance that avoids excess and volume, choosing instead detail, shading, and emotional restraint.
“Sentiere,” the first glimpse into this world, perfectly encapsulates the project’s spirit, acting as a quiet threshold into an album that feels more like a place to inhabit than a work to consume—an emotional outpost balanced between land and sea, where even what seems ephemeral finds a way to take root.
