A sumptuous autumn for AMS Records with the Hidden Gems series from the historic Cinevox. Following the very first vinyl reissue of Armando Trovajoli’s La Ciociara soundtrack, they now release, for the very first time on vinyl, the soundtrack of one of the most controversial films in Italian cinema: “Maladolescenza” by Pier Giuseppe Murgia, featuring music by Pippo Caruso. “Maladolescenza,” written and directed by Murgia and released in 1977, was an erotic/dramatic film whose protagonists Martin Loeb, Eva Ionesco, and Lara Wendel were still minors at the time of shooting. The film was highly debated for its nudity and sexual scenes, so much so that it was labeled “ch*ld pornography” in Germany and the Netherlands.
The soundtrack, composed and conducted by the unforgettable Pippo Caruso (1935–2018), is a true ‘hidden gem’ of the Cinevox catalog, consisting of various classical music pieces with romantic and bucolic tones, comparable to 1970s Italian Symphonic Pop in tracks where orchestral arrangements are accompanied by bass and drums. A real cherry on top is the presence of the uncredited Goblin (who in 1976, after the success of “Profondo Rosso,” worked with Caruso on the RAI program Chi?) on “L’incubo e il serpente,” a track full of tension and groove that would not have been out of place in the soundtrack of “Zombi/Dawn of the Dead.”
This LP, in its original version, is among the rarest ever released by Cinevox and is finally reissued in an ultra-limited special edition with new artwork and a 30×60 cm insert featuring images and texts curated by Fabio Capuzzo, detailing the film and its soundtrack. Blue vinyl edition, thick-cover sleeve, black inner sleeve, elegant sticker with a diamond background highlighting the Cinevox logo, embossed in silver. Audio remastered by Claudio Fuiano.
