Bright Carvings published the track “St Peter’s Bell” taken from the self-titled album by unknown act Elandill. From completely unknown 1970/1 Progressive LP, restored from the only known Acetate copy. Released March 05, 2025 on Bright Carvings. Stream the track through the YouTube player below:

The great mystery. The only known 12” LP Acetate of this appeared in a Charity Shop in Chiswick last year. We have been unable to find any record anywhere of a group of this name (or even one spelled “Elendil”, the character in Tolkien).

What we are left with is a lovely piece of British, Pastoral, Progressive, Chamber Rock. Five elegant, melodic well-structured and always engaging songs with deeply trippy lyrics, spiced up by episodes of West Coast-inspired lead guitar and flute jamming. Clearly dating from the classic “turnover” year of 1970/1 this album would have fitted perfectly on “Pink Scroll” era Charisma Records. We hear echoes of very early Yes, Trespass-era Genesis, Audience, Jethro Tull and Family but it is its own self. If you know anything about it…please get in touch!
