Bright Carvings to release the 1972 album “Night Clouded Moon” by UK band Diabolus, due out on July 05, 2026.
Diabolus made a highly collectable LP on German Bellaphon, released in 1972. What isn’t known is their full, crazy story. Their manager persuaded Shel Talmy to pay for studio sessions in July 1971. When Shel heard them he went nuts, saying they “had no commercial potential,” rejected them and sent them back into the studio in late August 1971 to try again. He hated the results once more, sacked the band and eventually sold the second sessions to Bellaphon in Germany to try and get some of his money back. This release is the original July sessions. Only ONE song (the title-track) appears on the Bellaphon LP and its a very different version. Its fantastic, beautifully played and recorded Progressive Rock with, often, an early King Crimson feel and, ironically, a strong Krautrock vibe given they never played there but are assumed to have been based there!
