Burning Sanctum, born in the depths of the Montreal underground in 2020, our year of the plague… Some pretty doomed times. Inspired to bring something heavy, slow, and dismal, they come out of the Catacombs of sound. A crushing, exacting cadence rises to invoke images of occultism, ritualistic practice, and monolithic beings to worship. They are heavyweight doom bringing you your undoing. Three leather-clad horsemen of the apocalypse; Cintia Ventania hailing from Thrash Metal band, Scatha on guitar and bass; David McCorkel of Ritual Master on drums and Ethan Desjardins also of Ritual Master, lending his demonic Demi-baritone on vocals, prophecizing the end of times in a slow burning package.

Ethan Desjardins (vocals):
The man that gives all the horror vibes to our sound, with earth-shaking growls, that made babies cry. And that’s not a joke! Starting alongside David as the keyboard player and backing vocalist of Ritual Master (Blackened Doom Metal from Montreal, Canada), Ethan began vocals with the help of Ritual Master’s frontman Gabriel Tulli, to learn the skills and technics needed as an extreme vocalist. Developing a style leaning towards a classic Death Metal enriched Heavy set guttural voice and raspy high pitch vocals reminiscent of 2nd wave Black Metal. Some of his primary vocal influences include Peter Steele (Type O Negative), George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher (Cannibal Corpse), Jens Kidman (Meshuggah) and Lasse Pyykko (Acid Witch, Hooded Menace). While working in Burning Sanctum, he looks towards bands such as Temple of Void and Spectral Voice to push the boundaries and capabilities of his voice.

Cintia Ventania (guitar, bass):
Thrashing since 2005, Cintia Ventania is one of the main founders of the band Scatha (Thrash Metal band from Rio de Janeiro/Brazil). Cintia always loved guitars and riffs, but destiny put a bass in her hands, and that started her dream to have a band back in 2003. She developed a unique and aggressive way of playing bass, but she always got the taste of composing using her guitar skills. Her main style was Thrash Metal, but as a music lover, she had, over the years, many different projects going on. Now, finally acting also as a rhythm guitarist for the first release of Burning Sanctum, she still not sure if live shows will count on her being at the bass or on the guitar… Just time will tell! Mostly important influences in her playing and writing style are Black Sabbath, Megadeth, Exodus, Testament and Candlemass.

Dave McCorkell (drums):
From primal beginnings to blasting satanic swing and rhythmic chaos for the past decade. Dave was one of the founding members of Ritual Master (Blackened Doom metal from Montreal, Canada) As a drummer, his style leans towards bands such as Candlemass, Solitude Aeturnus, Electric Wizard, Conan and many more alike; utilizing as many pulse pounding Doom grooves as possible. With his interests in all the subject matter that goes into the doom metal genre gave him a genuine affinity for old school horror movies and dark literature. The stories and poems of H.P. Lovecraft always heavily influenced his style as the main lyricist of the band.
