[News] Dream Theater publish the seond single “Invisible Monster” from upcoming album

While the anticipation of the new and fifteenth album grows, Dream Theater they released the video for the single “Invisible Monster“. The song is the second excerpt from “A View From The Top Of The World” out on October 22, 2021 on InsideOut Music/Sony Music. The video was directed by William “Wombat” Felch (Mudvayne, HellYeah, Crobot, Static-X, Nefariant) and talks about each artist’s inner conflicts. Guitarist John Petrucci comments: “The piece was not among the first to be composed. A lot of the music already written was super energetic and fast. Mike suggested doing something a little different. So we started working on a more mid-tempo song. The chorus, the riff and the melody changed very naturally. I compared it to ‘Pull Me Under’, when years ago we started playing and every time we created something it was always ‘Whoa, that’s cool!’.
Lyrically it speaks of how anxiety afflicts people on a daily basis. It’s like having an invisible monster always ahead. You don’t see it, but it haunts you all the time.

Dream Theater, formed by James LaBrie, John Petrucci, Jordan Rudess, John Myung and Mike Mangini, were in the midst of a sold-out world tour in support of their latest album “Distance Over Time” when the global pandemic brought the world to stop. Everyone found themselves in their own homes, with James LaBrie stranded in Canada and the rest of the band in the United States. As fate would have it, the band had just completed the construction of the DTHQ (Dream Theater Headquarters), a complex containing a recording studio, rehearsal room, control room, a warehouse for equipment as well as a place to give life to their creativity. LaBrie initially joined the band via ZOOM through a monitor in the DTHQs, physically reaching them only in March 2021, in quarantine, to record the vocal lines together with Petrucci.
