The second full-length album from Canada’s Earth Altar, “Hawk and Swan,” is officially released today through Black Throne Productions.
Based in Kjipuktuk (Halifax, Nova Scotia), Earth Altar’s latest record combines Space Rock, Stoner Rock, Progressive Rock, Psychedelic textures, and Electronic elements across eight tracks. The album centers on the Psychedelic chemistry between the fluid drumming of Jon MacIsaac and the atmospheric bass work of Spencer Trout, with synthesizers and additional instrumentation expanding the band’s sound beyond its two-piece foundation.
Hawk and Swan follows Earth Altar’s 2023 split release “Inter Terra Solis” with Ontario’s Sun Below. The new album continues the band’s interest in expansive song structures and themes surrounding human history, storytelling, mythology, imagination, and curiosity.
For the recording, Earth Altar brought Katie Wayne on board to contribute synthesizers alongside the drums, bass, vocals, and other instrumentation performed by the band. The album was recorded at Ocean Floor Studios by Charles Austin, mixed by Colin Kelly of Red Sky Productions, and mastered by Zack Horvath of ZHollow Studios / Black Throne Productions.
