Canadian Progressive Electronic project Enigmatic Sound Machines (ESM) proudly presents their haunting and hypnotic new single, “The Distance Between Here and Now,” now available on YouTube and streaming platforms. The track offers an evocative preview of the band’s third new studio album, “Imperfect Silence,” released on August 01, 2025 via ProgRock.com’s Essentials.

Formed by longtime friends Jeremie Arrobas and Thomas Szirmay, Enigmatic Sound Machines is a retro-futuristic soundscape collective rooted in a shared love for music, philosophy, and the visual arts. The Montreal-based duo draws from deep Prog, Fusion, and electronic traditions, crafting immersive, Cinematic compositions that reflect the emotional dissonance of the modern world.

With “Imperfect Silence,” ESM takes a bold step deeper into their sonic identity, an hour-long suite of expansive instrumental music, composed across eight original tracks. Moving away from their earlier multi-stylistic palette, the new album presents a more cohesive, flowing sound that bridges Progressive Rock, Ambient Electronica, and Jazz-Fusion with Atmospheric precision.

The single “The Distance Between Here and Now” is both a meditation and a lament, a textured reflection on transience and time, laced with ghostly melodies and rich instrumentation. It captures the essence of the album’s deeper themes: confusion, fear, and ultimately, the quiet hope for renewal.
