An accurate dictionary to tell the historical members of Genesis – those of the five-man formation of the so-called “Prog Era” between 1971 and 1975 – through the 26 letters of the alphabet. Each letter thus represents a different gateway to the career and private life of each musician, creating infinite combinations and a multitude of intersections that slowly reveal, in a broad and detailed way, a magical and unique story of its kind.
Francesco Gazzara brings together stories and anecdotes apparently distant but which, once read as if they were points to be joined, prove to reveal a great hidden image, resulting much closer to each other.
Thus we pass from the A of “Rosanna Arquette” to the C of the “Costumes” in the case of Peter Gabriel, or from the I of “In The Air Tonight” to the M of “Miami Vice” in that of Phil Collins. Again, from the G of the “GTR” to the T of “Tapping” for Steve Hackett, from the D of the “Double Neck” and the P of the “Polo” for Mike Rutherford, to the A of “Accordi” and the M of “Mellotron” for Tony Banks.
As in the ancient nautical maps, the 26 letters of each profile outline a story that develops over more than fifty years, made up of places, people, sounds, instruments, disguises, stages, recording studios, rehearsal rooms, festivals, tours, dropouts and reunions.
