Heavier and more direct than its equally dark and ritualistic predecessor “VOLAVERUNT,” Bank Myna‘s new album “EIMURIA” combines lightness and absolute darkness through a palette of influences matured over the last few years: obsidian-tinged Post-Rock, Doom incursions and delicate slowcore with mystical overtones turn the five tracks into a breathless, cathartic album. At times loud and intense, at other times minimalist and profound, the sound atmospheres alternate and serve a more assertive narrative, where the solemn slides irrevocably towards distortion, bringing an electric fury that we hardly knew existed within Bank Myna, as a counterpoint to their airy melancholy.
Recorded in a live setting, “EIMURIA” captures the palpable osmosis between the musicians with sensitivity and spontaneity, thanks to ample, warm sounds. Especially inspired by the tumultuous lives and artistic productions of poetess Alejandra Pizarnik and sculptor Camille Claudel, and deeply intimate, it narrates a process of personal transformation interspersed with brutal ruptures. “EIMURIA” was recorded and mixed by long-time collaborator Mathieu Gaud at Vetter Studio, and mastered by Harris Newman at Grey Market in Montreal, with an artwork by Italian photographer Ramona Zordini.

Stellar Frequencies (LP/CD/cassette/digital)
Initiated in 2013 in Paris, Bank Myna is the architect of a unique universe where dark Post-Rock, Drone, sound experiments and Doom-like incursions mingle. Among a mystical voice and dronian soundscapes, Bank Myna’s music offers free structures within which the sounds are ample, deep and the play on textures permanent. Ecstatic vocals lead the way to slow movements before letting the sound space tear up under bass and guitar feedbacks. Progressive, intense, torn between shadow and light, the Parisian quartet likes to give breadth and power to its compositions in an abrasive and instinctive live act, oscillating from flutterings imposed by Drone sounds to dazzling noise and Heavy Rock explosions.
