Says the band: “This is it! Our first album ‘Sleeping Whales’ is out now! If you’re interested in the story behind the album check out our Bandcamp or YouTube!
Special thanks to Stefan Walter who made it possible that the soundwaves can reach your ears. Thank you for mixing and editing, for explaining, for encouraging and for experimenting with us!
Thank you Natalie for making the sound of our album as smooth as it is, as rough as it needs to be and as powerful as it must be. Thank you for mastering our creation!”
In the end we fly. Floating through time. Call a place home and let the will touch high. A timbre to coat us like a warm summerbreeze in the numbing depth of the ocean. Just be. Many moods will pass.”
Sleeping Whales
This album tells the story of Günther who was left with no other choice than to leave his well known home. This home being not only the physical place of his presents but also his convictions and behavioral patterns – his set of mind. By leaving his comfort zone there lie challenges, big and small, that need to be overcome in order to grow. His journey is about the polarity in life, the struggle of not knowing and the path of self-discovery, eventually finding a state of physical ease and freedom from constraint.
Chapter I – Somnium
“Many histories have been lived”
My world has come to an end. The life I once knew has ceased to exist. Many histories have been lived on this planet, each shaped by generations and individuals convinced of their path and purpose, striving for what they believed to be the ideal life. Yet, to endure, I must depart this place. I am the final remnant of my kind.
Chapter II – Home
“There is no need to be anxious”
Darkness is surrounding me while the light of my once-familiar home no longer illuminates my way. With nothing but my heart as a guide, I venture into the unknown, searching for a new place to call home.
Chapter III – Zenith & Nadir
“Make use of your mind”
I have travelled many moons and passed many lights. Now I have discovered the first life. A cycle that is still intact but the loudest race has become silent. I see remains of a forgotten world and creatures that seem asleep. History repeats itself. So far from home. All the same has happened here.
Chapter IV – Polar
“As a child we are closer to feeling complete than ever again in our life’s”
There is no endless growth. What defines me, when I am
the only one left? I move forward and try to reach the past.
Old memories that fulfill me now. Have they felt the same
while living them?
Chapter V – Norma
“I am”
I travel without knowing my destination, yet within me, I sense the essence of what this world can offer. All external influences have shaped my sense of self and govern my actions. What I see is what I feel – what I feel is what I see – a pattern within the larger fabric of the universe. Exhaustion.
Chapter VI – Fathom
“In the desert I march”
It is not comfort that lets me grow. I only struggle with myself – no one else. I see nothing but sand. My mind is empty as I march. Time is no more. There is nothing new if I turn back and the way will be even harder. My footsteps get covered by the wind. Time is no more.
Chapter VII – Sleeping Whales
“Now I dance”
The silence begins to stretch and warp around me, yet something shifts. The long, aching stillness starts to hum with a faint energy. I am not alone. The sky, the ocean, the trees, everything is alive, pulsing with the same force I feel stirring within me.
I can not belong in every place. But I can know of many. Without surrendering to the unknown there will be no true comfort. Into the sea I go where gravity seems shifted. My mind awakes and so does all I see. I now dance with the whales. In distance I traveled in time I forgot in space I created a feeling called home.
