Portland, Oregon based sci-fi inspired Psychedelic/Grunge Rockers Ghost Frog have published the official video for the track “Human Farm” taken fromtheir fourth full-length album, “Galactic Mini Golf,” out November 05, 2024 on vinyl and digital formats. By the year 2069 the outside world had become a toxic wasteland, destroyed by war, greed, and unsustainable ecological practices. Just as humanity was on the brink of extinction, a savior seemed to emerge, who, through his cutting edge innovation of futuristic farming techniques, established an organic oasis, providing sanctuary to a small group of carefully selected survivors.
To these “lucky” chosen few, their mysterious, all knowing leader is known only as: BIG FARMER.
This is the post-apocalyptic backdrop for the new musical short film that’s set to the song “Human Farm” off of Portland based scifidelic Grunge Rockers Ghost Frog’s new album “Galactic Mini Golf.” It was shot and edited by the band’s good friend Derrin Brice, and takes inspiration from the dystopian science fiction the band’s lead singer Quinn Schwartz, who wrote and stars in it along with the rest of his bandmates (Karl Beheim, Archie Heald and Vincent Lirocchi), has been infatuated by since his youth.
According to the lead singer of the band, Quinn Schwartz:
“I first watched ‘A Clockwork Orange’ after plundering my older brother’s VHS collection when I was seven years old, a highly mesmerizing, perplexing, and possibly slightly traumatizing gateway experience which planted the seed of fascination that eventually led to my getting fully hooked on dark sci-fi. I later got exposed to the seminal works of the genre like ‘1984,’ and ‘Brave New World,’ and movies like ‘Logan’s Run’ and ‘Soylent Green,’ when I was in my teens. Some more obscure films in the same vein that we took inspiration from were ‘Parts: The Clonus Horror,’ ‘ZPG’ and ‘Turkey Shoot,’ stuff that I discovered while working for many years at Movie Madness, the last remaining video store in our home base of Portland, OR.
In recent years I’ve been struck by how eerily predictive (programming?) many of these so-called works of ‘fiction’ have proven to be, and so with this video I suppose I’ve attempted to make light of my ever increasing fears for the future, which probably have at least partially been provoked by my obsession with this genre, as a way of coping with how correspondingly dark things seem to be getting outside the movie theatre. Toss in some 70’s hillbilly horror flicks into the mix like ‘Deliverance,’ ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ and ‘Motel Hell’ and you’ve got yourself the alchemical makings of our latest harrowing cinematic odyssey! All hail Big Farmer!”
