Grailstone initially began as a lockdown project which was never completed. Following Astral Festival 2022, Alex Studer (guitar, vocals – also from YO NO SE) relaunched the project, joining forces with drummer Hubert ‘Ceb’ Lewandowski to begin jamming out the songs that would become “Peace Perfect Peace.” Once the songs were mostly written, Haz Wheaton (ex-Hawkwind) was roped in to perform bass duties on the album. The tracks were recorded in Alex’s own Astral Studio over the course of a cold couple of days in January of 2022. In a technical disaster straight out of a studio engineer’s nightmare, an entire day’s was mysteriously lost, so the bulk of the album you hear was recorded in a single day. It was then mixed by Alex Studer and mastered by Jack Endino.
The band are predominantly a recording project, having played only a couple of live shows. Following the departure of Ceb on drums, Diego Rodríguez has joined the fold alongside the addition of second guitarist Jason ‘pain au’ Strickland.
This is the 100th release on Stolen Body and unfortunately due a lack of funds following a huge tax bill, we have decided to release this as digital only for the time being. Grailstone are working on a follow-up album at the moment and perhaps when the time is right, we can press “Peace Perfect Peace” too.
