About the upcoming album – it is a concept album in the sense that there is a common thread and story throughout it. The songs are based on my own experiences and feelings in life – revolving around the theme of love. I find it hard to write about other things than my own experiences and feelings as they are the only things I know for sure. Also, I think putting my thoughts and feelings into songs gives me an outlet for them – and the songwriting therefore becomes like a diary to me.
Now back to this particular song. It is about the end of what was and the beginning of what’s to come in the period of my life this album is spanning. I believe we go through many rebirths in this life. Be it when one goes through some major disruptive change that happens to you or when you make a decision that points your life in a new direction. This song is about the end of a marriage and conveys my feelings of being in the midst of this process of breaking up – struggling with taking the decision to let go and move on. The song was actually written in the middle of this process and I think it had a therapeutic effect on me. I felt very alone as I have never been good at reaching out and opening up about my feelings to others. In addition my father had passed away a few years before this, and this process of feeling the relationship dying while I started shutting myself off from the closest ones around me caused me to think a lot about what he must have felt when he unexpectedly died while being alone with no one around. When my marriage eventually ended I felt like a phoenix rising from the ashes. It felt like I was reborn into something new – and I quickly started searching for something that would define me outside of the marriage that had ended. I also needed to search for love elsewhere – so this sort of sets the stage for the rest of the album.
Our marriage ended on mutual terms and we are still friends today. I must say that I don’t regret getting married even if it wasn’t until death do us apart. Life takes you on all sorts of journeys and sometimes you end up in a cul-de-sac where you see no way forward and have to make a pivot. That is fine! I think it is all about the journey anyway – not where you are going. We had lots of good times and it was not all in vain as we have a fantastic son as a result of this relationship.
Hope you enjoy the song!

About holon:
holon is the brainchild and creative outlet for Ronny Pedersen – based in Trondheim, Norway. The debut album “The Time is Always Now,” released on Autumnsongs Records in 2016, featured several prominent performers from the Norwegian prog scene, and got rave reviews by the critics. The music is an eclectic mix of various genres – often with long songs that slowly takes its time to build up from the initial idea. At the foundation is the songwriting and a knack for catchy melodies which is often accompanied by longer instrumental sections – all of which sometimes can be wrapped in odd time signatures. Sounds a little bit like prog doesn’t it? You may call it that if you want – or just music if you don’t like the constraints of genres. We recommend you to just listen to it and make up your own opinion on what it is. New music has been recorded with the plan to release a concept album “Love & Behold” in two parts where all music is written and arranged by Ronny himself while the drums are once again handled by the prominent Geir Anfinn Halland Johansen.
