Hero And Leander” is the new video announcing “Moonstone,” the second studio album by Kæry Ann, nickname of the Italian singer-songwriter and guitarist Erika Azzini, set for release on vinyl, CD and digital formats on January 23, 2026 via Subsound Records. Rooted in the ethereal Dark Folk and Psychedelic essence of her debut album “Songs Of Grace And Ruin,” this new work explores heavier territories, embracing Doom and Stoner influences. Through crushing riffs and haunting vocals, it reflects on loss, the forces of nature, and existential struggle. The production balances raw intensity with a deep, immersive atmosphere, enhancing the album’s emotional depth.

Hero And Leander,” the first single taken from the album, is out with a video shot by Davide Saleri. The track introduces the sound and atmosphere of the new record, as a bridge between past and future: the production grows rawer, the tones darker, while still rooted in the psych/gaze textures of the debut. The rhythm section pushes forward with driving energy, riffs and solos emerge both harsh and melancholic, while ethereal, enveloping vocals weave an equilibrium between tension and introspection. The title draws inspiration from the Greek myth of Hero and Leander, yet the lyrics reshape its allegory in a personal way, narrating the fading of a bond and unleashing feelings of fragility and rage, the sensation of an out-of-body spirit, of a cry that will forever go unheard.

Compared to her previous release, which was more personal, “Moonstone” marks a shift towards greater collaboration within the band, with a more unified approach to songwriting and arrangements. The album, featuring two tracks (“Todeslied” and “Mariner’s Song“) by bassist Francesca Papi, has been arranged and refined together with Davide Rosa (guitar) and Fabio Orticoni (drums). The release also includes a powerful tribute to Bathory with a reinterpretation of “Shores In Flames.” Recorded at Produzione Rumorose, mixed by Maurizio Baggio, and mastered by Giovanni Versari, this record represents a powerful evolution in the band’s sound, sharpening their identity and pushing the boundaries of their musical expression. The vinyl is printed in limited version in marble 3 colors and in regular black version.

Rooted in the essence of Psych/Dark Folk of her debut, Kæry Ann’s artistic journey expands as it embraces Doom and Stoner influences, exploring deeper and more immersive sonic landscapes. Her music delves into introspection, where emotions take shape through dreamlike and symbolic imagery. Her debut album, “Songs Of Grace And Ruin,” was released in 2023 by the Berlin-based label Anomic Records. The record was well received by radio stations and music magazines worldwide. Two of its tracks were selected for the soundtrack of the American film “Birth/Rebirth,” a Sundance Film Festival nominee, and the Italian crime series “Brenner.” After the release, she toured across Europe with her band.
