The historic Umbrian band returns with the song that anticipates the upcoming concept album “Kim.” A fascinating contemporary Prog between visions, transhumanism, faith and science.
L’Estate di San Martino was born in 1975 and among the current members is Marco Pentiricci, multi-instrumentalist, one of the historical founders of the band that has a long and complex history. After releasing only one single in 1978, he broke up and reformed only thanks to the discovery of a concert recorded in 1983, published in “Alder” (2006). Later he made his long-distance debut with “Febo” (2007); second album “Talsete di Marsantino” (2012) was then revisited in an acoustic key in “ESM#40” in 2015.
Seven years after the last album, L’Estate di San Martino is back in an electric guise with “Kim,” a concept album inspired by a news story that really happened: the attempt to hibernate a 23-year-old American girl suffering from cancer, for awaken her in the distant future in which she could finally heal from an illness that is still incurable today in many cases. To address issues such as Darwinism, transhumanism, the eternal contrast between religion and science and the ultimate limit to which the latter can be pushed, L’Estate di San Martino has shifted the coordinates of its sound towards a modern Progressive Rock, almost devoid of the acoustic passages of the past but full of numerous electronic cues. Fundamental in this stylistic evolution is the joining in formation of Andrea Pieroni, a singer with a warm and expressive tone that gives an edge to a musically flawless album.
On the occasion of the live return to Trasimeno Prog, AMS releases the single “Caleidoscopio“: nine minutes of fascinating contemporary Prog, which anticipates the themes and sounds of the upcoming new album “Kim,” which will be released later this year.
