Long Earth 2026

Scottish Progressive Rock band Long Earth are pleased to announce the release of their new single and music video, “Seahorses,” on 14 August 2026. The track is the second single to be taken from their acclaimed fourth studio album, Towards the Sky, released earlier this year via Bakeneko.

Opening the album with an immediate burst of energy, “Seahorses” showcases Long Earth‘s signature blend of soaring melodies, Atmospheric textures, and dynamic Progressive Rock arrangements. Beneath its vibrant musical landscape lies a powerful message of acceptance and solidarity.

“It is a song for all our friends who are different and don’t conform to society’s expectations. Be yourself! We stand with you,” explains vocalist Maaike Siegerist.

While the song’s driving momentum delivers one of the album’s most uplifting moments, its dreamlike choruses provide a striking contrast. Siegerist continues:

“The choruses sound very dreamy, almost like slow-motion. They suggested a magical underwater atmosphere for the lyrics, linked to the song’s theme.”

The accompanying music video captures both the spirit and energy of the track. Filmed partly on the sandy beaches of Texel, the Dutch island known for its sweeping coastal landscapes, and partly at The Glad Cafe in Glasgow during the band’s “Towards The Sky” album launch event, the video combines natural beauty with live performance footage to create a vibrant visual companion to the song.

Released on June 27, 2026, “Towards The Sky” marked a significant milestone for Long Earth, further establishing the band as one of Scotland’s most compelling Progressive Rock acts. Featuring themes of astronomy, space exploration, environmental awareness, artificial intelligence, and human resilience, the album has been praised for its ambitious songwriting, atmospheric arrangements, and emotional depth.

Formed by keyboardist Mike Baxter, Long Earth have built a reputation for crafting melodic and thought-provoking Progressive Rock, combining Symphonic keyboards, expressive vocals, soaring guitar work, and rich storytelling. Alongside Baxter, the current line-up features vocalist Maaike Siegerist, guitarist Renaldo McKim, bassist David McLachlan, and drummer Kenny McCabe.

Seahorses” will be available on all major streaming platforms from 14 August 2026, with the official music video premiering on YouTube the same day.
